Online Video College Fair Offers Admissions Advice for Latino Students Planning Ahead

Destino: Universidad Virtual Event Airs Live Tuesday May 14th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at http://www.CollegeWeekLive.com.

New York, NY (PRWEB) May 08, 2013- The College Board, a not-for-profit organization that connects students to college success and opportunity, and CollegeWeekLive, the leading provider of virtual college admission events, invite Latino high school students to the fourth in a series of bilingual college admissions events titled Destino: Universidad, or Destination: College, to be held live online on Tuesday, May 14th from 5 to 8 p.m. EDT.

Destino: Universidad is a collaborative effort among universities, colleges, school districts and community-based organizations to provide Latino families with college planning resources. A wide range of colleges will be participating from across the United States, with admissions advisors standing by, ready to chat with Latino students and their parents who log in. The event also features a directory of scholarships available from participating colleges and features live video presentations with interactive Q&A designed to help students prepare, pay for and successfully complete college.

Topics to be covered in the May 14th event include a video presentation for high school juniors with specific advice on how to get ahead on the college application process during the summer months by gathering recommendation letters now and crafting college application essays. A workshop for students considering community college will review the process for enrollment or transfer and another separate workshop for veterans and those that have been in the workforce will explore options for returning to school. Information and advice on placement exams, college financing alternatives and advice for maximizing your college-going experience after enrolled will be shared.

A CollegeweekLive scholarship of $1,000 is available via random draw to students who login to CollegeWeekLive and visit three college virtual booths or instant chat with admissions representatives from three colleges. Helpful documents such as the Common Application and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) are also available at College Board's Big Future virtual booth.
